Jennifer Corriero is a young leader bringing insight into understanding, reaching out to and motivating youth. Jennifer has focus on two things: helping youth realize the potential of technology and working with companies to show them what they need to connect with young people.
She has created a successful world wide online communities for youth called Takingitglobal.org which is a non profit organizations. Taking It Global is a network for youths who want to change the world. This wonderful organization has more then 160,000 users over 200 Countries and Territories. Jennifer has been involved in conferences around the world as a presenter, facilitator, and panelist. She has been recognized a Global Leader of Tomorrow in 2002 and as a Young Global Leader in 2004. In 2007 she was recognized Canada’s most powerful women: Top 100 as one of Canada’s Future Leaders by Women’s Executive Network . Congratulations Jennifer.
It took us awhile but we where finally were able to coordinate a phone interview with this amazing young woman. When speaking with Jennifer one can not help but be inspired by her positive attitude and passion for life. At 28 an impressive resume, she has done much to change the world in which we live. We wanted to asked Jennifer questions that we hoped would allow all of us a glimps of what keeps her going.
Q What brings you joy?
A Laughter, seeing impact of good deeds and ideas coming to life.
Q How do you look at the world?
A optimism - seeing a lot of good in peoples hearts, generosity, growth and people inherent desire to effect change. She also feels a deep concern for where the world is going, the pain, suffering greed and lost or aimless people. Also ambiguity lost.
Q What message would you have to empowering other women?
A Everything starts with you, know your choices ,how you choose to react, engage or disengage inspires the outcome of your life. Model behaviour in others that you wish to have in your life.
Q If you could change on thing about the world what would it be?
A Ethics - the ability to affect change. To have more moments of opportunity for young people. Set tone - to be open minded. You can affect change , start at a young age and this will have a circle of affect.
Q What was the biggest influence that brought you to this point?
A There have been many different ones but the main one would be volunteering in different environments i.e. Food banks. Mentoring in the centres and the interest children have in the environment. These many experiences have giving her the ability to speak up, have a voice and the ability to change the world.
